What is a colonic? A colonic is a gentle infusion of warm filtered water that safely and efficiently cleanses the entire colon. What about possible electrolyte depletion? When the body is properly nourished with good quality organic foods containing sodium, potassium and magnesium, the electrolyte level of the body is replenished as part of the diet. What about possible contamination? Anything used by each client is disposable and for their own individual use. Following the colonic, the instrument is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected. When the disinfection procedure is complete, the instrument is generously cleaned with water to flush the germicidal solution completely from the instrument. Will the intestinal flora be disturbed by a colonic? The large intestine is producing bacteria on a daily basis. Adherence to proper nutrition will enhance the colon’s ability to maintain balance following the colonic. What about possible perforation of the colon? Modern colonic machines can introduce a minimal starting pressure of 1/8-1/4 psi, which produces one pint of water per minute of flow. The colonic, then, can be preformed effectively below the 1 psi setting (in contrast to a standard hospital enema, which starts at 2 psi and increases another psi per foot of elevation). |
